I am an Assistant Professor of Spanish and Portuguese in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Baylor University. My main research interests are in the fields of Sociolinguistics and Language Contact, with an emphasis on U.S. Spanish. I have been working more specifically with language variation and change (morphosyntactic variation), language contact phenomena, and also the incorporation of Sociolinguistics and Critical Pedagogies in the field of Heritage Language Education. In addition, I am a research collaborator in the Group of Inter-institutional Research in Languages (GIRL), which has been working with pronominal variation in Brazilian Portuguese tweets.
